Waiting for you

We've had a lot of good things happen over the past few weeks! We've had our home study done and approved! We spent hours up hours last weekend working on our profile book, which will be shown to expectant mothers choosing adoption for their child, in hopes that they choose us! We printed one book just to make sure we loved how it printed and thankfully we are so so pleased with it! It represents our family perfectly. We have shared an online link of our book with some family and they all have commented on how it's "totally us". That's exactly what we envisioned when we set out creating the book- we wanted it to reflect us absolutely to the tee.

Now that we are pretty much ready to move on an adoption situation, if you know of or become aware of an expectant mother who finds herself choosing adoption for her child, please consider telling her about us! We will be happy to send her our book so she can get to know us better and we can arrange for her to work with an adoption attorney and to offer counselling. Private adoption is done all the time and takes the agency out of the equation.

The next step in all of this is applying to agencies, sending our profile book to anyone that will cosnider it and then waitinnnnnggggggg.... this is going to be the hardest part for us. We feel like this whole process so far has been, hurry- get our home study done, hurry- get all the documents needed, hurry- fill out this form or that form, hurry- make our book, and now all that hurrying brings us to the waiting time.

Wikipedia even defines the phrase "Hurry up and wait" as:
" a humorous phrase used to refer to the situation in which one is forced to hurry in order to complete a certain task, or arrive at a certain destination, by a specified time; only for nothing to happen at that time".

This is kind of how adoption is at the stage we are in right now. I could complain and get upset and loose faith in the waiting part, but I choose not to! I saw a message on Facebook through an organization that we are working with and it spoke to me:
"Today we want to send you all a reminder that no matter if you are working with one agency or 15, your wait will not be one day less than the time god has planned for you."

..... so we wait!

This chalkboard sits in my current "adoption paperwork office", which will eventually be the baby's room. <3
